To Make This Easy Chicken Parmesan Recipe, You Will Need:
Chicken breasts. Select two large chicken breasts. They are easier to slice in half lengthwise when working with large ones.
Bread crumbs and flour. This will be used for breading the chicken pieces. I always use panko bread crumbs for extra crispy-ness. Regular bread crumbs can be used instead if that is what you have on hand.
Parmesan and mozzarella. Shred your own cheese so it’s fresh and doesn’t have anything else added to it.
Marinara sauce. Use premade jarred marinara sauce or make your own from scratch!
Spices. Garlic and onion powder. Italian seasoning (or dried parsley or basil).
Start by cutting the chicken breasts in half, lengthwise, and seasoning both sides with salt and pepper. If the chicken breasts are small in size, use 4 breasts and pound them down to even thickness.
Then, have three separate bowls ready to bread the chicken. First bowl will have flour. Second one will have eggs, garlic powder, and onion powder. And the third one will have the panko bread crumbs, parmesan, and Italian seasoning.
Dip the chicken into the first bowl with flour, then into the egg mixture, and then into the panko and parmesan mixture.
Brown the breaded chicken in a skillet with a little bit of oil. Place onto a baking sheet, making sure they are all spread out.
Spoon marinara sauce over the chicken and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
Bake for 18-22 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. The outside coating should be nice and crispy and cheese should be melted.
Serve with your favorite pasta tossed in any leftover marinara sauce you may have or a side salad.
