These sweet chocolate chip cookie and brownie bars are a combination of the best of both worlds. Chocolaty, fudge brownie and classic chocolate chip cookie all in one bar!
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8-inch square baking pan or dish with parchment paper. Set aside.
Whisk the butter, sugar, vanilla, and egg in a medium bowl. Fold in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix with a wooden spoon or rubber spatula until well combined. Transfer batter to prepared baking pan. Use the rubber spatula to even it out flat or use damp hands to push it down and spread it out.
For the cookie dough, whisk granulate sugar, brown sugar, and butter together for 1 minute in a medium bowl. Add in the egg and vanilla extract and whisk until creamy. Fold in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix with a wooden spoon or rubber spatula until well combined. Fold in chocolate chips. Evenly spread the mixture on top of the brownie layer.
Place into oven and bake for 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool 10 minutes before slicing into squares.
