1poundflank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
1tbspsoy sauce
1tbsprice vinegar
1tbspsesame seed oil
1headbroccoli, cut into florets
2tbspcornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
scallions or green onions, for garnish
sesame seeds, for garnish
For The Sauce
1cupbeef broth
1/2cupsoy sauce
1/3cupbrown sugar
1tbsphoisin sauce
1tspchili paste (or red chili flakes, for a little heat)
1tbspginger, minced
3clovesgarlic, minced
Instructions
In a medium bowl, marinate the beef with soy sauce and rice vinegar for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, make the sauce.
In a small bowl, whisk together the sauce ingredients until well combined, set aside.
Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Cook beef, about 2 minutes on each side, until cooked through. Work in batches so they don’t overlap one another. Set aside.
Add broccoli florets and sauce into the same skillet, bring to a boil. Cover with lid and simmer for 2 minutes.
Add cornstarch mixture to the pan. Continue cooking for 1-2 more minutes until sauce thickens. Transfer beef back to the skillet and stir until beef is coated and warmed through, about 1 minute. Garnish with scallions and sesame seeds. Serve over a bed of rice.
