Cinnamon Sugar Grilled Pineapple
Cinnamon sugar grilled pineapple is an easy and healthy dessert that takes a few minutes to prep and grill. Finished results are sweet, cinnamon-y, and caramelized pineapple chunks. (Jump to Recipe)
Pineapples are starting to make their appearance in markets this time of season. A fellow shopper once told me, the best way to tell if a pineapple is ripe is if you can smell the sweet tanginess from the bottom. I still use this trick to this day. Although, I have yet to figure out how to pick a good watermelon!
To Make This Cinnamon Sugar Pineapple, You Will Need:
Pineapple. A ripe one.
Ground Cinnamon.
Granulated Sugar. A sugar substitute will work just fine as a replacement.
Cooking Spray. Vegetable or canola oil will work well also to oil the grill grates.
Why Sugar?
Pineapple is sweet enough, won’t you agree? So, why the addition of sugar? When sugar hits the grill or any type of heat, it becomes caramelized. That’s really it. This dessert has caramelized flavors compared to simple grilled pineapple.
How To Cut A Pineapple
First, cut the top and bottom off from the pineapple. Then slice the outer skin off. Cut into 4 spears. Then cut the center core out and cut each spear in half, lengthwise. You will have a total of 8 spears.
