Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 egg, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • vanilla ice cream, for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • In a large bowl, whisk granulated sugar, brown sugar, and butter together for 1 minute. Add in the egg and vanilla extract and whisk until creamy. Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until well combined. Fold in 1/4 cup of the chocolate chips.
  • Transfer batter to a 10 inch skillet. Press the batter into the skillet using damp hands. Evenly distribute across the skillet. Sprinkle the rest of the chocolate chips on top and place into the oven.
  • Bake for 20-22 minutes until the edges are crisp. If you like your chocolate chip cookies extra soft, pull it out after 18 minutes so it stays gooey in the center. If you will be using a stainless steel skillet, your cookie will bake quicker, and you will need to pull it out 2-5 minutes sooner.
  • Once it's finished baking, pull it out and let it cool until it's safe to eat from the skillet. Pile on the ice cream and dig in!
