Crock-Pot® Glazed Ham

Showcase a beautiful holiday spiral-cut glazed ham that takes all of 6 ingredients and the work is primarily done in the Crock-Pot®.  By slow cooking it to perfection, the flavors meld together to create a tender and juicy ham. Afterwards, the glaze is simmered to thicken up and then gets spooned over the ham for extra sweet flavors.

Crock-Pot™ Glazed Ham using a slow cooker method

With holiday/party prep work, I’m always looking for ways to cut down on the work in the kitchen. Ham, turkey, sides, salads, dips.. you name it. If the Crock-Pot® can take care of it, it’s going in!

I’m using the Crock-Pot® Programmable 7-Quart Cook & Carry Slow Cooker with Sous Vide which combines slow cooker convenience and precision with the unrivaled results of a sous vide. It has a cook and carry locking lid with a tight seal to prevent leaks and spills when you take it on the go. The innovative 7-quart design offers more usable cooking space, with a generous base for larger cuts of meat and family-size meals, making it ideal for the holidays. Ingredient Notes:

– Bone-In Spiral Sliced Half Ham: Fully cooked bone-in ham that is spiral cut.

– Brown Sugar: Packed light brown or dark brown sugar.

– Honey: Clover or orange-blossom honey is a mild and sweeter type of honey I love to use.

– Dijon Mustard: Dijon brings on a tang that no ingredient really can.

– Apple Cider Vinegar: ACV adds a splash of acidity to the glaze.

– Orange Juice: Freshly squeezed orange juice from about 1½ to 2 oranges.

– Fresh Herbs Or Fruit: Fresh sage, rosemary, thyme, pomegranates, persimmons, or orange slices arranged alongside the ham adds a beautiful seasonal aesthetic to the dish. It takes any ordinary ham and makes it a stunning centerpiece for the holidays.

FAQs:

1. Can I cook the ham on the HIGH setting?

Of course. Although, when the ham is slow cooked, it gives it more time to absorb the sweet, succulent flavors. To cook on HIGH, simply adjust the time to 2 hours and temperature setting to HIGH, follow remaining steps throughout.

2. How do I store leftovers for the cooked ham?

Slice the ham and discard the bone (or save to make soup with). Place the ham slices in an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.

3. How many people does this size ham feed?

On average, it’s safe to estimate about ¾ lb. of ham per person. If you’re using a boneless ham, aim for ½ lb. per person. The most important key here is to select a ham that will fit into the crockpot with the lid on. Selecting a larger ham might not be your best bet. But if you’re feeding a smaller crowd, you can choose to select a smaller sized ham. An 8 pound ham fit perfectly in a 7 QT Crock-Pot®.
