6-Ingredient Alfredo Sauce

Nothing beats a creamy homemade alfredo sauce to spoon over a freshly cooked batch of pasta, especially when it has only 6 ingredients! (Jump to Recipe)

6-Ingredient Alfredo Sauce

6-ingredients include:

  • butter
  • garlic
  • heavy whipping cream
  • Parmesan
  • lemon juice
  • parsley

That’s it!

Nothing fancy. Simple and straight forward.

How to make alfredo sauce:

Melt the butter in a saucepan or skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic to the saucepan and sauté it real quick for 30 seconds. Don’t overcook it! If you love a strong garlic flavor you can skip the sautéing and add it in with the cream.

Add the heavy whipping cream and simmer for 5 minutes while stirring. Add parsley, lemon juice, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese to the saucepan and whisk it until the cheese is all melted. Remove the alfredo sauce from the heat and serve it over your favorite pasta!

If you want to add some variation:

Change up the cheese – Asiago is also a great change up because it’s so flavorful and strong like a Parmesan. Grab a four cheese blend instead of Parmesan to sub it in for a different kind of flavor.

Add additional herbs – Here we are using parsley. It’s best to use fresh but dry will work too. A few other great add-ins are basil and dill. They are softer herbs and will wilt right into the sauce just like parsley.

Add some spice – a pinch or two of cayenne pepper is a great way to add heat without going overboard. A spoonful of cajun seasoning will add some zesty and savory flavors.

Pairings:

Once the alfredo sauce is tossed in your favorite pasta, here are a few ways to serve some proteins with it. Top it off with cajun blackened shrimp, grilled chicken breast, baked salmon, or a rotisserie chicken.
