Beef And Broccoli
This beef and broccoli recipe is not only a replica of the restaurant take-out one but this one tastes even better! Tender beef and broccoli are completely coated in a sweet and tangy homemade Chinese sauce. (Jump to Recipe)
This recipe reminds me of my sister Kristina, who can go on and on about her love for beef and broccoli, and I don’t blame her. This homemade version of the famous restaurant take-out is out of this world. It’s sort of, unbelievably, easy to make. You’d think, Chinese restaurants have a mile-long of fancy ingredients. Nope, not the case! I just happen to have all of them in the pantry and refrigerator, I only bought beef and broccoli for this one. So let’s get started!
Ingredients You Will Need For This Beef And Broccoli:
- broccoli
- beef
- sesame seed oil
- rice vinegar
- cornstarch
- soy sauce
- brown sugar
- beef broth
- garlic
- ginger
- hoisin sauce
- chili pasta (or red chili flakes for a little heat)
- sesame seeds and scallions (or green onions) for garnish
First, start off by thinly slicing the beef, against the grain. Place it in a bowl with rice vinegar and soy sauce. Let it marinate for 10 or so minutes. While the beef is marinading, work on putting the sauce ingredients together.
Next, cook the beef in a large skillet or wok, working in batches so they don’t overlap one another. Once beef is all finished being cooked, add the sauce and broccoli to the skillet and stir in the cornstarch mixture (cornstarch mixed with water). The cornstarch will thicken the sauce in almost seconds! Return the beef back to the skillet and stir until it is coated in the sweet and tangy sauce. Serve this delicious beef and broccoli over a bed of jasmine rice and sprinkle with scallions and sesame seeds.
