Chocolate Dipped Oranges

Not only are oranges recognized for being loaded with vitamin C, they have a district luscious, candied kind of sweetness to them. And when bathed in chocolate, now we’re talking divine snacking. I call it a chocolate covered burst of sunshine.

Chocolate Varieties:

You can use a few different types of chocolate here. If you are a lover of all things white chocolate, you will love the orange twist when it’s paired with the white. I’ve always loved dark chocolate so that is my go-to. Sugar-free chocolate is another healthy option.

Melting Chocolate:

Melting chocolate is an overall easy task. I use a small saucepan to melt it over the stove with a little dab of coconut oil (to help it say creamy and smooth.) I’ve also melted it in the microwave, in the past, I would heat it up in 30 second increments and stir it in between until all melted.

Chocolate Dipped Oranges

These chocolate dipped oranges are best enjoyed right after they set in the refrigerator. They can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 24 hours.

Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Resting Time 1 hour
Total Time 1 hour 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 oranges, peeled and segmented
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt, optional

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

  2. Heat coconut oil in a small saucepan on low heat. Add chocolate and mix with a spoon continually as it melts so it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan, about 2-3 minutes. Remove it from the heat and let the chocolate melt completely, about 2 minutes.

  3. Dip half of each slice of orange in the chocolate, leaving half of it bare. Transfer to prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining orange slices. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the chocolate to your liking (skip this part if you do not like salted chocolate). Place baking sheet into the refrigerator for 1 hour for chocolate to set.

  4. Best served immediately. Can also be stored in an air tight container up to 24 hours.
