Honey Mustard Chicken Tenders
These honey mustard chicken tenders are coated in a honey, dijon, and stone ground mustard mixture. They are easily cooked over the stove and are done in minutes. The results: almost fall-apart, juicy, sweet and tangy chicken tenders. (Jump to Recipe)
Chicken tenders are a white meat that is cut from the chicken breast. They are so delicate and soft and turn out extremely moist when cooked.
Sweet honey mustard sauce is the perfect coating for these super moist tenders. This sauce is a combination of pantry staples such as: dijon, stone ground mustard, honey, lemon juice, salt and pepper. I added a little bit of chopped rosemary from the backyard to spruce the herby flavoring.
The chicken tenders are marinated in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Another trick I’ve used when I’m crunched for time is I threw all of the ingredients into a ziplock bag and gently massaged the marinate into the chicken for 2 minutes. With this technique you have to be careful not to smash the chicken, otherwise it will fall apart!
This chicken is cooked stove top in a large, non-stick pan. Because the chicken tenders are relatively small in size, they cook quickly. At the last minute of cooking, I add the rest of the marinade to the pan with the chicken still cooking to smother them with extra flavor. I paired these juicy honey mustard chicken tenders with oven-baked sweet potato wedges. They go well with pretty much anything, creamy polenta, mashed potatoes, roasted brussels sprouts and bacon, or throw them into a chopped salad. You can’t go wrong with any way you decide to use them.

Honey Mustard Chicken Tenders
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup stone ground mustard
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 sprigs rosemary, chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 1/2 pounds chicken tenderloins (about 9-10 pieces)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Combine both mustards, honey, lemon juice, rosemary, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Add chicken tenderloins to bowl and toss to combine. Place into the refrigerator to marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
- Heat olive oil in large pan over medium heat. Once hot, add chicken to the pan in a single layer, reserve the marinade. Depending on the size of your pan, you may need to cook chicken in 2 separate batches and clean pan in between. Cook chicken for 3 minutes. Once it's golden, flip the chicken and add the marinade into the pan so the sauce can heat up. Cook for 3 more minutes, or until chicken is cooked through. The sauce should become hot and bubbly.
- Transfer to a serving dish and let cool 5 minutes before serving.
