Maple Scones

These are the warm flavors I look for in the fall time, buttery, rich, nutty, and best of all sweet, but not too sweet!

These maple scones are super soft and tender on the inside with crumbly edges. They’re drizzled with a thick glaze of maple icing that also shares similar flavors of the scone.

To Make These Maple Scones:

Start by combining flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Next work the cold butter into the flour using a pastry blender or your hands. The texture should resemble wet sand. Make sure you don’t over mix!

Whisk the maple syrup, egg, vanilla extract, and milk together. Pour it into the bowl with the flour and mix it with a spatula to form a dough. The dough will be moist therefore making it important to work with well floured hands!

If the dough is still super sticky, add 2-3 more tablespoons of flour to the dough.

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and form a ball.

Move the dough to a baking sheet and press the dough down evenly so it is about 1 inch in thickness. Cut into 8 wedges and leave them as is. Do not separate them!

Bake for about 18-20 minutes until the edges are golden. Remove from oven and separate the wedges.

While they cool, make the icing by whisking the powdered sugar and maple syrup together. Drizzle the icing over the warm scones and serve!
