Turkey Cheddar Bacon Melt

To Make This Turkey Cheddar Bacon Melt:

Start by cooking the bacon. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lay out 6 slices of bacon. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees F. until the bacon is crispy.

Next, caramelize the onion. Melt butter in a skillet over medium/low heat and add the sliced onion. Cook for 5 minutes until onion is translucent. Add a splash of balsamic vinegar and a bit of brown sugar, this will give the onions a punch of flavor. Sauté for 5 more minutes.

Slice the ciabatta loaf in half, lengthwise. You can also use french, sour dough, or Italian loafs here. Ciabatta happens to be one of my favorite for warm sandwiches. Place it on a parchment lined baking sheet, sliced part facing up. Brush all sides with olive oil (the inside and outside.)

Assemble all the ingredients on the bottom portion of the bread. Spread out the caramelized onions. Add turkey slices, crispy bacon, and 3 slices of cheddar cheese. Add 3 more slices of cheddar cheese to the other bread half.

Bake at 400 degrees F. for 10 minutes. To assemble, place the top portion of the bread on top of the bottom portion (with all the ingredients) and slice.

Substitute the ciabatta loaf with your favorite loaf of bread. A few options are french, sour dough, or Italian loafs, which are very common. Ciabatta happens to be one of my favorite for warm sandwiches.
